What we do not collect

The calculator runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter — household size, ages, state, income components, MAGI adjustments — are not sent to our servers and are not stored anywhere we control. Closing the tab discards the inputs.

What we do collect

Advertising and Google AdSense

This site is monetized by display advertising served via Google AdSense. When AdSense is enabled, Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. For more information about how Google uses cookies in advertising, see How Google uses cookies in advertising.

EEA / UK residents:Under the GDPR, you may withhold consent for personalized advertising via the controls above and your browser's cookie settings. Google AdSense honors the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework where applicable.

California residents:Under the CCPA, you may request that we do not sell or share your personal information. Because this site does not collect personal information beyond what Google AdSense's cookies contain, the controls linked above are the operative opt-out mechanism.

Cookies

We use essential, analytics, and advertising cookies. The advertising cookies are set by Google AdSense and its third-party partners (when ad serving is enabled) — not by us directly. Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics set analytics cookies on our behalf. We do not set marketing cookies of our own beyond the AdSense-controlled cookies described above.

We may also set a functional cookie named aca_default_statethat records a two-letter US state code derived from your IP address at the network level (via Vercel's edge geolocation header). This pre-fills the State dropdown on the calculator so you don't have to scroll the list every visit. The cookie value is a state code only (e.g. NY); we do not store your IP address, your precise location, or any identifying information in it. The cookie expires after 30 days. You can clear it at any time via your browser settings, and ignoring or deleting it has no functional impact beyond returning the dropdown to the default of California.

Your rights

If you are a resident of California, the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction with a comparable law, you have the right to request information about, access to, deletion of, or correction of personal data we hold about you. Because we do not store calculator inputs or user accounts, in practice we hold no personal data identifiable to you.
